Diamond Apartments & Suites

The apartment was dirty and neglected, with old, worn furnishings, and looked nothing like the photos. It was noisy and uncomfortable, not a pleasant place to stay. A terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend it or come back.

We spent four weeks at Diamond Apartments & Suites for our 30th wedding anniversary and hated the thought of leaving. From arrival, we were welcomed like old friends. Nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel Manager, Roula, is the friendliest, nicest, most gorgeous lady you'll meet, and the whole stay was made special by her, her family and the cleaning lady. Our room 106 was lovely, with a small balcony, TV, 2 ring stove, fridge, hairdryer and the best shower in Crete. The bed was very comfy. It was cleaned almost every day, towels were changed most days and the bed every 3rd day. We'll recommend Diamond to friends and family and be back very soon. We got in at about 11 at night and had to call the number on the door. A man from the other hotel arrived within five minutes. The room was a good size, with a modern bathroom and a nice balcony. It was very clean, and the cleaning lady was friendly. There's a wardrobe with two drawers inside and a sturdy safe. The kitchen had the basics, though I would have liked a toaster and maybe a small microwave. I mentioned that a few more coat hangers would be useful, and she said I should have asked because they try to help where they can. The keys were a bit of a hassle: I don't like carrying much when I go out, and the keys can't be removed from the ring, so I had to take the bulky electric fob too. The information mentioned AC but I couldn't see that it cost extra. I don't mind paying if I know beforehand, so it would be helpful to say clearly if there's a charge, unless I just missed it. The apartments are set back from the main street, so we slept well. The occasional moped or trike went past, but it wasn't an issue. I didn't try the food or pool at the hotel, but would next time. I would go back to the apartments.

The staff have been fabulous, friendly and helpful. The apartment is clean and basic, but has everything you need. AC costs extra. It's right in the middle of everything, though tucked away from the main street and nice and quiet, apart from bin-emptying day.
