We came as a group of 14 friends, and everyone enjoyed staying at Niriides Luxury Villas. The host was thoughtful and shared some useful tips about chersonissos. The location is great, with a supermarket nearby and the strip within walking distance. Perfect villas for our group.

The villas are spacious and comfortable, and the pool is a good size for a family. They’re set away from the town centre, which was nice. A few things could be better: the kitchen wasn’t very well equipped, with only one sharp knife and twice as many table knives as forks. Air conditioning is optional but very expensive. Also, getting to the villas means taking a very steep road and then a series of steps, so it’s not ideal if you have limited mobility. None of that spoiled a great holiday.

There’s a 10-minute walk to the main street and taxi rank, and about 20 minutes to the beach, though the return walk is uphill. How long that takes may depend on how many carafes of wine you’ve had. The villas have a lovely outdoor space with a pool, plenty of seats and a big BBQ. They’re beautiful, spacious and well equipped. Air conditioning costs extra, about 50 Euro per unit, and you can choose to pay for just the bedrooms or the whole villa. Some steep steps make access difficult for anyone less mobile. Our taxi to Herakleion cost 40 Euros, and the Venetian fort and nearby ruins are worth seeing.

We rented two villas for a group of 14 friends, and everyone had a positive impression of the place. There’s a supermarket close by, and you can walk from the villa to the strip. I’d consider coming back to neriides villas next time I’m in Crete.
