The housekeeping team from Villa Plus were great, keeping the place clean with midweek and weekend linen changes. The villa itself was comfortable, had the amenities advertised, and made a good starting point for exploring Zakynthos. We stayed from 4th to 18th October, during a very wet spell with heavy rain and storms most days, but still got some pool time and sunshine between showers. Wasps bothered us throughout, and mosquitoes swarmed near the end, though we understand that isn’t typical. The weather and insects didn’t put us off returning, but we have other Greek islands we want to see first. Zakynthos didn’t quite wow us as much as we hoped. A few things would have been useful to know beforehand. The villa seemed to double as storage, with people and vans turning up early on several mornings. It wasn’t disruptive, but advance notice would have helped. We also often heard barking dogs and crowing cockerels, apparently from a nearby kennel or yard, especially overnight. Three local cats kept showing up and getting into the villa. They looked hungry and in poor condition, and we couldn’t leave doors open without them coming in and jumping on the furniture. Some maintenance is needed too. A couple of the outside doors didn’t close securely. The villa was good overall, but these points could be improved.

We found the villa just as pictured on the website, and would highly recommend booking it. It’s conveniently close to beaches, the airport and shops, with Lidl and AB about a 5-minute drive away. The pool was the heart of our holiday, with an impressive pool area and extensive grounds around it. Inside, everything was spotless when we arrived, the beds and furniture were comfortable, and the well-equipped kitchen easily handled 8 people. The master bedroom feels special and has lovely views. The villa is stunning and well maintained.

In Aug 2021, the villa no longer matched its very generous website photos, and we couldn’t enjoy the luxury stay we expected. The pool looked green and dirty, was very old and needed maintenance. Two bathrooms had recurring water spills onto the floor from the toilet and washing machine. Cleaning was really poor: there was a slice of pizza on a wall, rubbish under a bed and a very dirty kitchen. It took 2 days to get the grass cut, outdoor internet cables were hanging loose, and the huge barbecue didn’t have a proper grill. It seems to have been a wonderful place in the past, and there’s plenty of potential, but apparently the owner doesn’t care about keeping the building in good shape. The price was too high, and we didn’t receive any receipt.

A lovely villa with an amazing pool, tucked into a quiet spot. Nice beaches and great restaurants are only a short drive away.
