Olive Trees Garden Lixouri

The smell was the worst thing by far. I've never woken up in the middle of the night because of a smell before. It was like your grandmother had died in there. We were booked for six nights, but left the first morning with nowhere else planned. That's how bad it was. The rust, old furniture, awful mattress, and tiny bathroom were bad too: to pee, you had to shut both the shower door and the window.

The pool was fabulous, with loungers and a bar offering happy hour from 5 to 7 pm and 10 to 11 pm. The staff were very friendly, and I'd definitely come back. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. It was cleaned daily, with towels and sheets changed every three days. The one drawback was weak Wi-Fi unless you were nearer the main building or pool.

The cottage had a kitchen and outdoor space, and the property was lovely and surrounded by greenery. A few things were wrong when we arrived, but they were sorted out quickly. Wi-Fi was patchy, almost nonexistent, unless we went nearer the main building. Breakfast costs €5, though the sweet options were limited for someone like me who prefers that kind of breakfast. The room was cleaned daily and the linens changed, but the cleaning could be better. Vasili was kind and attentive, and even helped us with a problem the hotel couldn't control.

A charming, very quiet spot near a lovely beach. The pool was cool, with floats for both kids and adults.
