The sea is crystal clear, and the whole area is green and humid. There isn't much of a Greek atmosphere, and the local population is mixed. Around 80% of the vacationers were from western Ukraine, with Serbs and Bulgarians, and 20% were Russians. We saw Sithonia, Athos, and Kassandra, and won't return to Halkidiki because we can't afford another trip. We've been to the islands and want to go back. The place is beautiful, but it's on a mountain, so walking in the heat is hard. The tour company took us to reception, though taxis did take us to our apartment. The beach is below, with pebbles on shore and sea urchins in deep water. The water was still cool in early July. We booked a tour without meals, but it was very expensive. Loutra has just one expensive shop, and olive oil at duty-free and cosmetics were expensive too. We rented a car for four days for 40 euros, from the auction. We drove around to the opposite coast, where the beaches were sandy but noisy and crowded, then returned to our place, Paradise. Fruit was delivered daily and could be bought right from the balcony, and fish was brought a couple of times. Our excursions included Thessaloniki, the Magi, Athos, and Meteora. There was a torrential downpour that even surprised the Greeks. It was impressive, but Meteora is a long way away. The hotel food was better, though the selection wasn't the same and it cost less.
