Wyndham Loutraki Poseidon Resort

We needed a car to stay here, though the setting is beautiful and I’ve never been in a hotel room so close to the water. The air conditioning in our first room didn’t work, so we were moved to a better one where it did. But the sliding door lock in the new room was broken, and sleeping with the door unlocked made me uneasy. The hotel says it’s five-star, but it didn’t feel that way. We were there in the shoulder season, before tourism had really picked up, though we’ve had much better stays elsewhere in Greece at the same time of year. The property is huge, apparently 40 hectares according to what I read online. With just us and around ten other guests, it felt like a creepy ghost town from the 60s. You can imagine it was wonderful when built in the 60s or 70s, but now it seemed dated, dusty, and run-down. Service was hard to find. Ordering coffee by the pool was out of the question, and when we did see someone, even an employee, they looked surprised to see us. The staff we met were lovely, just very few. Mina at the Apollo bar was especially nice. Breakfast was poor enough that we skipped it on our second day. The coffee from the so-called machine tasted like dirty bathwater, and the “orange juice” was terrible. I didn’t try the restaurants since none seemed to be open, but we ordered spaghetti Bolognese through room service. It was delicious and reasonably priced. We care about the spa, gym, and sauna, but didn’t use them because they were so far away, it wasn’t clear how to get there, and we couldn’t tell if they were open. The place felt very uninviting.

I spent a week at Poseidon with my family and would definitely recommend it. The staff team is what made the stay so pleasant, and I want to thank them.

The outdoor pool and the view were amazing. Service was great and the staff were friendly. The indoor pool and hot tub were clean, though the tub could have been a lot warmer.

The conference was amazing, and the location was absolutely beautiful. The staff were incredibly professional and quick to take care of every need we had. Highly recommend!
