Villa Plori

The beach is beautiful, and the apartment was lovely. We spent two weeks here, with the hosts making sure everything was taken care of. They’re attentive, and the place was cleaned and refreshed every day.

The place was spotless, even the beach, and the hosts made us feel really looked after. We got exactly the kind of accommodation we wanted. I’m a seasoned traveller, and this is the best hotel I’ve stayed at. Such a perfect family holiday.

Whenever we get the chance, we stay with Lena & Manolis and her family. They’re the best, and their hospitality is amazing. The studios and apartment are lovely, but book early if you can. Good luck! 😄 This place means a lot to us.

Makrigialos is a quiet place for a relaxing holiday, with bars and tavernas along the beach and more places to eat and drink around its charming little fishing harbour. Villa Plori is right on the sand, in the middle of the village. We think it has one of the best beaches on Crete’s southeast coast, with sand sloping gently into the clear, warm Libyan Sea. We first came to Villa Plori in 1995 while I was recovering from major surgery. Seeing the calm sea and soft sand just a flip flop away from our balcony felt like finding paradise. We’ve since taken holidays in some glorious parts of the world, but we’ve kept coming back to this little place. We’ve just returned from another two weeks and thought it was time to finally write a review. There are eight studios and two apartments over two floors. Each has its own lovely furnishings, comfortable beds and bedding, a sofa, and a touch of Cretan charm. The modern bathrooms are better than those in some five-star hotels. Kitchens have a kettle, coffee maker, small hotplate, pans, utensils, cutlery, tableware, and a fridge freezer. All have good-sized private balconies with a table, chairs, umbrella, and fantastic sea views. WiFi, A/C, free parking, sun-beds, an umbrella and a table are included. The rooms are spotless, with daily cleaning. Manolis & Lena are superb hosts and feel more like friends to us. They welcome you warmly, help you settle in and with your luggage, and are happy to help with anything you need. There’s wine and water in the fridge when you arrive, a lovely touch that makes Villa Plori feel like home. Verra is a huge asset. She keeps the rooms spotless, tends the beautiful garden by watering and deadheading the flowers, and brushes the sun-beds each morning so they’re free of sand. She works so hard. Manolis, Lena & family, and Verra, thank you once again for making our stay perfect.
