1822 Makrinitsa Suites

The host was so approachable and friendly that we felt at home. The rooms, built with wood and stone, were warm and well equipped for chilly winter nights. The place sits just above Makrinitsa’s main square.

Christina and Giannis, the two employees, were helpful, attentive, and made the holiday special. Their breakfast was delicious and different each day. Thanks to them for a wonderful vacation. We stayed 14 days in the “Aura” suite at Makrinitsa Suites 1822 Hotel, in the historic center, with a lovely view over Volos. Still, the place needs investment and the owner’s operation seemed poorly organized. Much of the furniture was very worn, the garden service worked unprofessionally while we were there, and every parasol was broken so there was no shade. The bathroom, shutters, and wooden fixtures also urgently need renovation. The website description and photos don’t match reality at all. I should really give the hotel one star, but the staff are the reason I’m giving four.

Eleni and Vicky were the stars of the stay, so polite, friendly, and always ready to help. And the breakfast was a real highlight, with delicious local flavors and plenty of variety. Everything else was spotless and lovely too, from the view and atmosphere to the staff. The unexpected surprise was the elevator, which I never thought I’d find there. If you’re going to Pelio, you have to stay here! 🤩

The old city’s beauty makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, and the view is breathtaking. It’s a perfect place for couples. We loved our time in Makrinitsa so much that this stay has us planning a return. Definitely worth considering. Congratulations on the great work!
