Castro Beach Hotel

The food and drinks tasted good, and the restaurant and bar staff were really nice to us. There were snacks at set times too, though the all-inclusive hours only ran from 11:30 to 22:30. Unfortunately, we got severe diarrhea, so it seemed some of the food may have gone bad. The pool also needed attention: algae covered parts of the walls, especially by the stairs, and bits of paper were floating in the shallow area. I saw a cat drinking from the pool one night, and there were plenty of cats around the property. The only show was Greek Night on Thursdays at 21:15. Our basement room had holes in the walls, loose electrical sockets, barely any liquid soap, a door-side bulb that flickered like a strobe, and an air conditioner that made a high-pitched noise when starting up. The balcony view was mostly blocked, and its door lock jammed once and was hard to fix. Towels were meant to be replaced every two days, but once we didn't get fresh ones. The bathroom door had no lock. The main entrance used a physical key, while a separate RFID card was needed to switch on the electricity, so this didn't feel like a modern hotel. There were other frustrating issues. At check-in around 2 AM, staff made us leave our IDs at reception overnight. Two days before checkout, a woman called asking us to pay a room tax we'd already paid on our first day. When we asked to stay longer, reception quoted €50 for five hours and €40 for two hours. The English on the information sheets and in requests such as “We are kindly request you to...” wasn't very good. The location is near the SYN.KA supermarket and close to the sea, though the hotel felt cut off from the beach. We weren't allowed to take plastic bar cups down to it. I'd look for a better hotel. If you do stay here and get a basement room like ours, ask to move.

Even with the hotel full, it never felt crowded. The food was consistently good, everything was clean, and the service was delightful. Great value for the price. The mattress was the one thing we didn't like, it felt too soft for us.

The pool area had lovely lighting and music, and the staff were so friendly. Food and drinks were good too. Everywhere was spotless, and the place feels like it was put together by people who really know how to welcome guests. Great value for money. I don't often say I'd return somewhere, but I'd definitely come back here. Thanks for a great stay 😊

We felt like part of the family here, thanks to the incredibly kind people. It's a peaceful, clean place for unwinding and recharging. We're already looking forward to coming back next summer.
