We enjoyed the food: there was plenty, and although the selection was smaller, everything tasted good. The beach is a little farther away, but an easy walk, and we also used the pool. A friendly bartender and good beer were right next door, so we spent our evenings there chatting and relaxing. The hotel is simple and small. Our room was clean but small too, and, as in many Greek hotels, soundproofing was limited. We were lucky to meet Jana at reception. She noticed how tired I looked and went out of her way to find us a quieter room. I really appreciated that, she has a heart of gold. We could also leave our backpacks there on the last day, which was very helpful. It’s not the place for luxury or a huge buffet, but if you want peace and genuine Greek hospitality, it’s a good fit.

The location was the only good part of our holiday, right in the centre of everything. The staff, especially the older man at reception, were horrible and aggressive. There was no drinking water provided. When we asked for some, we were told to buy it ourselves at the shop. The food was bland and the same every day, just presented differently. I also woke up to a cleaner in my room. She kept cleaning after I asked her to leave. My friend and I stayed in July 2025.

We loved Crete, but wouldn’t recommend this hotel or its sister hotel, " Triton Gardens". Dinner hall staff sometimes plated their own food before all the guests had eaten, taking the last few bits. One of the women in the dinner hall was lovely, though the other behind the food counter always looked sour. The food was awful. Chips and sweetcorn for breakfast? There was no fresh drinking water except at mealtimes. The only snack, served between 1500-1700hrs, was a stale croissant. Instant coffee and other hot drinks were available only at breakfast or from 1500-1700hrs. There’s just one bar at the very back of the grounds. It sells stale larger, poor-quality soda, and homemade raki in dodgy bottles. The rooms are tired. They charged us to use the wardrobe safe and for A/C, though you can switch the unit on manually by lifting the front cover of the wall fan. They changed the bed linen only after we asked, and then checked that we’d been there at least a week. The location was great, but that was about it.

The staff were amazing, always smiling and ready to help, and the food was fresh and tasty throughout my seven-day stay at Triton hotel. I also liked the pool bar patio, with tables and chairs where you can sit and relax. The pool has a lovely view of the mountains. Our room was cleaned every day, and the location was brilliant, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach. It was a great stay.

The room had no window or balcony, and the shower was tiny. We also had ants in the bathroom, and you have to pay extra for air conditioning. There’s no Wi-Fi and no phone service at this hotel. All-inclusive wasn’t worth the money, and the food was subpar. The rooms are very basic. On the positive side, the receptionists were nice, a bald man and a lady with brown hair, the rooms were kept clean, and you’re very close to the beach and strip. I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a stay in malia.
