Chris Apartments

Our family was very happy during a three-week stay in September and October. We had two ground-floor rooms with four beds, plus a kitchen table and chairs and a dresser. It was simple but sufficient and clean. The pool was nice, the Wi-Fi so-so, and the owners were very kind.

This place ought to be shut down. The owner shouldn’t work in tourism or any kind of service job.

Samos is still our favourite island, especially around Kampos. It’s fairly quiet, with a lovely sandy beach, affordable restaurants, and friendly people. We were out a lot, so the basic feel of Chris's apartments didn’t bother us too much, and our room and comfortable bed were fine. Still, the kitchen had no pans and very few utensils. The complex didn’t feel cosy: the pool and most of the outdoor lights were off, and only two big LED lamps lit the grounds. Air conditioning cost 8 euros a day. The owner was around a lot and seemed a bit grumpy, though we weren’t bothered by that. The transfer drops you on the main road, then it’s about 700 metres uphill to the apartment, and the manager doesn’t come to get you. Some people found that a hard walk. We won’t be back to these apartments anytime soon. Next time we’ll spend a little more.

We don’t expect luxury, but when something goes wrong we do expect help. We were treated rudely and, with our hostess’s help, fled the apartment along with four other people. The fridge broke, it wasn’t cleaned until after four days, and even the cleaner got scolded. There were hardly any kitchen utensils, which seems odd for an apartment. Guests were blamed for breaking things and threatened with charges or eviction. It’s surprising that there seem to be just two people on Samos who hate having guests. We had a lovely holiday elsewhere. Credit to Corendon, but they should stop selling trips to this couple. They’re old and perhaps completely lost. It’s pathetic too.
