Kampos Village

The meals were all inclusive, with a big, tasty Greek selection each day, and the staff were friendly. It’s in a nice, quiet area, and the hotel complex is close to the sea. The rooms could use an upgrade, and I wish the swimming pools stayed open later into the afternoon. Still, worth a visit.

The staff were fantastic and made us feel welcome. The cleaners were always polite, as were the catering team, especially Despina and Alexis. There’s a grill on Sundays, live music a few times a week, and a kids’ club with activities such as yoga and dancing. Our children also loved the all-day ice cream and snack refills. We were a family of four at Kampos Village in mid-July. The coach from the airport took an hour, and on arrival we found a very clean resort full of palm trees and greenery. We had to wait 30 minutes for our room keys, which was disappointing. We were lucky to get one of the new pool-view rooms, with a TV, air conditioning, and very comfortable beds. Our all-inclusive package covered food, drinks, and snacks throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were tasty, though a little repetitive. The local beer and spirits were poor, with very little alcohol in the beer, so we bought branded drinks each evening. That was disappointing when we’d paid for all-inclusive. The beach is a short walk away, but it’s very windy. The pebbles are painful to walk on and to get in and out of the water, so I’d suggest water shoes. The sea was beautiful in colour but very cold, 21 degrees at best. The pool water was fine, and sunbeds and parasols were free. Hiring a car or motorbike is worthwhile if you want to see the rest of the island, where there’s lots to do and see. We enjoyed our holiday and would probably have given it five stars if the local beer and spirits had been better. I’d certainly recommend the hotel and thank all the staff for their welcome.

The staff are really friendly, and the rooms are clean. It’s a nice, affordable hotel in Samos, with three pools and beach beds. The food is okay, though basic. The beach beds cost extra and aren’t part of the all-inclusive deal, so we spent most of our time at the neighbours, Heaven Bar, where the beds are free if you order a drink.

It’s a shame, because the hotel itself is very nice and clean, with three pools and lots of facilities. I’d give the hotel four stars, but the food gets zero. We’re only three days into a 14-day stay, and the all-inclusive buffet is already bland, repetitive, and uninspiring. There was tzaziki once so far, made with mayonnaise instead of yogurt. They say the menu reflects the many international visitors, but I don’t understand having so little Greek food in a Greek hotel. Lunch and dinner desserts are just one kind of fruit and two questionable cakes. There are only two small serving stations, and they get crowded and run out of food quickly. The staff try to keep things going, but it’s hard for them. Dinner is only served from 7:30 to 9:15 pm, so people start queuing well beforehand. The first hour or so turns into a free-for-all.
