Smy Kos Beach & Splash

The hotel had a relaxing atmosphere that worked well for our family, and it was clean and well maintained. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Alba and Valeria on the animation team were especially great with both the children and adults. They were always smiling, full of energy, and made everyone feel welcome. There wasn't much to do around the hotel, which was the one small downside, so we rented a car to see more of the island. We had a wonderful holiday and would gladly recommend it to other families.

We came with friends and our three young children, aged 3, 4, and 7. Our friends stayed two weeks and we stayed one. The hotel is family-friendly, the splash area was okay for the kids, and the staff were extremely kind, helpful, and friendly throughout. Still, I'd rate the stay 2/5 because the hotel is a long way from everything, with very little nearby. The biggest frustration came at the end. We had a flight after 10pm and asked whether we could pay for one extra night, so we wouldn't have to spend the day waiting and travelling with three small children. Reception repeatedly said there were no rooms, although we could see rooms listed online on the hotel website and Booking.com. Those listings required at least a two-night booking. Management didn't explain that or try to find another option. The manager stayed in the office and sent staff out to repeat the same answer. We weren't asking for a free upgrade, just the chance to pay to keep our room until the evening. For a family-oriented hotel, management's response was extremely disappointing and frustrating.

The sandy beach is a real standout, with clear water that made it a lovely place to relax. The pools were great too, and the splash park kept everyone entertained. At meals, the buffet had a delicious range of fresh choices. The reception team were especially welcoming, friendly, and helpful from the moment we arrived. The hotel was fantastic, and I'd highly recommend it for a getaway.

The entertainment has been great, and Lucas and the team are brilliant, but this first holiday abroad has left me feeling let down. We checked in on 27/05, and I'm still staying here. The air conditioning stopped on the second night. Reception said someone would come straight up, but we waited two hours. When we called again, they said no one could come until morning. I wish they'd told us that at first, because we stayed up waiting for nothing. The free 24/7 Wi-Fi doesn't work during the day. I've raised it with reception several times, but they just say they'll look into it and nothing happens. I need it to check in with family at home, arrange transfers to other villages, and work, and I don't have data roaming. The food hasn't been great either. We've been paying to eat at the bar down the road because it's much better. I was excited for over a year, so I'm truly gutted that the trip hasn't lived up to expectations. I won't be coming back.
