Hotel Boulas

Hotel Boulas is right in the center of Megalahori, close to restaurants, supermarkets, and bakers, and not far from the port and transportation. There are fantastic sea views from every room, and each one has a balcony. The family who runs the hotel is friendly and very helpful. Rooms and bedding were cleaned every day. There's also a good-sized pool if you'd rather not swim in the sea, plus a pool bar for drinks.

The family who owns the place is really sweet, and both the rooms and pool were clean. Every room has a view of the pool and beach, just as they say, and there were quite a few sunbeds. The only small hitch was paying for bar items: you had to use cash or add them to your room and settle up at the end. It didn't bother us, though. I'd choose it again.

The room was clean, and the staff were nice, but the appliances were very old and the fridge was switched off. We asked for blankets and were told they don't have any in summer because it's too hot. We were also told not to leave the AC running while we were out, so we always came back to a very hot room. It's an inexpensive hotel, so don't expect premium features or pay a premium price. The location is quiet and far from downtown Skala, but without a car I'd stay closer to Skala. I'm lowering my service rating from four stars to two. Checkout is listed as 8:00-11:00 am, but when I asked to leave at 8:00, I was told nobody would be available until 9:00. Very strange.

The pool is nice and the location is very good, but the room needs a quick renovation in my opinion. It was clean, though the furniture was very old, the TV looked like something from 1999, and the fridge didn't work very well. They also wouldn't let us drink our own water by the pool, saying we could only consume things bought from the bar.
