Hotel Alexandra

The hotel feels modern and up to date, and the service was superb. They even arranged takeaway meals for us by the sea at the hotel’s reserved deckchairs. We were welcomed so warmly, and the location above a magnificent cove couldn’t have been more ideal.

The manager’s kindness really stood out. We arrived without cash for the buses and, when we asked about getting to an ATM in the next town, he offered us €10 from his own wallet so we could take the bus and pay him back later. We were very grateful and returned the money that evening. The hotel is family run, and everyone made us feel at home from arrival. Our room had clearly been renovated fairly recently and was surprisingly nice for the low price. A quiet, beautiful beach is less than a minute away, and the restaurant across the road serves delicious food at very reasonable prices on its section of the beach. Breakfast was included and freshly prepared with care each morning, with a really inviting atmosphere. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and our two nights at Hotel Alexandra were among my favourites. It was a great start to our holiday, and we’d absolutely come back.

The service was the highlight. Manager Sigalas Nikos was there around the clock for questions and anything we needed, including things we hadn’t even thought of. He packed us lunch for the ferry without us asking. It made for a very pleasant stay, and I’d recommend the hotel without hesitation. It sits beside a small beach, with a few other beaches a short walk away. There isn’t much nearby apart from a small grill and mini market. Our room was clean and tidy, with enough space for our things and to move around. The bed and firm mattress were good, the balcony was tiny but we didn’t use it, and the AC was welcome. You can switch off its awfully bright display, which helps at night. Bring earplugs, though. The walls are very thin, so you hear everything inside and outside the hotel. That’s why I’d give the room four stars.

The balcony view was amazing, and the beach right in front of the hotel was one of the best I’ve been to. The room was really comfortable, and the staff and owner were the friendliest. Their food is homemade, even the pasta sauce, and it’s delicious. We especially loved the homemade wine. It’s a little far from the city centre, but well worth it. Highly recommended.
