The less expensive rooms still have a vintage look and haven't been renovated, but ours was in excellent shape and very clean. The bathroom could use an update, and there are renovated rooms in the higher categories, so check that when booking. The hotel gives you a lot for the price, and its website lays out the room categories and booking options clearly, along with local history and tips for nearby attractions. We felt comfortable throughout our stay. The staff were professional and incredibly friendly, and everything was very clean. The hotel's spot by the lagoon is hard to beat. Our balcony looked out over it, while the town center and restaurants were an easy walk away. There are plenty of transport options, convenient parking, EV charging stations, and bike-friendly infrastructure around Messolonghi, which was a nice bonus for cyclists.

The hotel is very old, but that didn't bother us, and we'd definitely come back. We had a spacious bedroom, a huge bathroom, a balcony, and a fridge. It was what we'd expect from a three-star place, with no frills, a good location, friendly staff, parking, and continental breakfast. I would take the bedroom carpets out for hygiene.

The price felt high for the off-season, €56 for a room without breakfast, considering how run-down parts of the hotel and the room felt. The room had a slightly strange smell and really needs a full renovation, though it was clean enough and came with clean towels, sheets, and bath products. The cleaning staff in the morning were very friendly and smiley. The hotel looks tired overall, but has a few retro touches I liked, such as the big spiral staircase, the reception flooring, and an original telephone booth. It was built in 1954 during a major government hotel spending push meant to support Greece's new tourism boom. I stayed one night at short notice in mid-March 2026.

For a three-star hotel, it's excellent, and at that price I have no complaints. The building is old but very nice, and the reception staff are wonderful. Our room was cleaned each morning, with fresh water in the fridge, towels, shampoo, and bed linen. The internet worked great for us, and breakfast was wonderful. Anyone looking for faults might prefer a five-star hotel.

The room was clean and had a totally 70s feel, which isn't necessarily bad. Getting rid of the old carpet would be a plus, though. The real problem was the awful cigarette smell. I could hardly breathe.
