Eriphilly

We stayed for a week in July 23, our first time in Molyvos and Eriphilly. The studio was small and dated, but clean. Bins were emptied daily, towels changed every other day, and the free WiFi was good. Air conditioning cost €7 per day. We didn’t eat at the hotel, but the drinks and service were good. The pool was fantastic, probably one of the best in Molyvos, and there were always sunbeds free. It’s a 20-minute walk to the start of the resort, the train stop, and the first bar, then another 15 minutes or so to the harbour. There are lots of places to eat and drink along the way, as well as in the village and by the beach. We walked each day, though taxis were easy to order and plentiful. The local bus to Petra and Anaxos stops at the bottom of the drive in both directions. We used it twice and found it very reliable. We’d be happy to stay here again if we return to Molyvos.

The apartment in the original building was a little tired, though very clean, and the owner and team were friendly and helpful. We booked with Jet2. The hotel sits among olive groves and is well placed for walkers, with waymarked routes that have appeared since our last visit to Molyvos. We had fabulous views from our apartment. There are two pools. The one by reception is clean and perfectly adequate, while the one in front of the newer apartment blocks is beautiful, with a beach area, infinity pool, and surrounding grass. The gardens are well kept, and the place nearly feels like being a house guest. They offer sandwiches and omelettes, plus one home-cooked meal each evening. Breakfast is an impressive buffet, prepared and replenished by the team. I had an omelette for lunch and enjoyed it. The hotel is outside town, about 1.5 miles from the harbour and 0.75 miles from town. Taxis cost €6 in Sep22. Both areas have plenty of good value restaurants, with similar menus and large portions. We often shared a starter, a main meal, and a salad between two, sometimes having dessert too. I’d definitely return to the Eriphilly.

The website said Molyvos center was 600m away, but the walk took at least 20-25 minutes on steep cobbled streets. We later heard it was 1.5 km from the hotel, and it wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility issues. The breakfast was lovely, with homemade croissants and pancakes, though the bacon and fried eggs were always cold. The rooms and pool area were very clean. Air conditioning cost 7 euros a day, which the hotel website hadn’t made clear.

The rooms were fine, and we liked the balcony, so we had a nice stay. There are two pools, each with a section cordoned off for children. One downside was the plumbing: it was noisy, and hot water took at least four minutes.
