Olive Press Hotel & Apartments

We booked a week at the end of July through Jet2 at the last minute and I think we got a pretty good deal. The hotel is listed as 3 stars by Jet2, which seems right. It's right on the seafront, within walking distance of bars, restaurants, and supermarkets, and makes a good base for exploring the island if you're on a budget and don't plan to spend the whole week in your room. The rooms are small, but that seems tied to the layout of the buildings. We didn't have the cleanliness, room size, or bed problems other people mentioned. The bathroom was a bit small and dated, but no worse than other places I've stayed in Greece at a similar price. The beds were comfortable enough, though we got two singles pushed together instead of the double we'd booked. It wasn't a huge deal, and the A/C worked well in July. Breakfast was a standard buffet for a small family run hotel, with most of what you'd want to start the day. Staff were always replenishing food and clearing plates. The pool area is large and clean, and we always found a sunbed even in high season. A few broken beds were taken away during our stay, and we saw the pool being cleaned each morning. The little beach bar can bring food and drinks to your sunbed, handy if you want to relax. If you're swimming in the sea, consider water shoes because the beach is pebbly, not sandy. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The front desk suggested local car hire places and booked a boat trip for us, and the pool bar staff were friendly and efficient.

The views were amazing, and we're glad we chose a seafront room with a balcony. Breakfast was more than enough, served by the sea, but they really do shut the doors at 10.30. The fridge was a bit noisy and didn't get very cold. It would be nice if they served drinks in the lovely reception or breakfast area after breakfast.

That sea view from the breakfast area made mornings really relaxing, and our balcony looked right out at a castle. The room was cleaned every day, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. It's a simple, practical 3-star place, so don't expect fancy interiors or a big breakfast spread. We had a really good stay and would recommend it.

The location and view are lovely, but parts of the hotel feel dated and could use renovation. It would also be nice if they had vegan milk at breakfast.
