We’ll be back. The owner was a wonderful, energetic woman who let me pick whichever traditional guest house was available in old town Monemvasia. Each one was nicely renovated, well kept, and tastefully decorated. Inside, the house felt warmer than the surrounding area in winter, and I think it would stay cooler in summer. The good restaurants and bars are only a short walk up the stairs.

The location, rooms, views, cleanliness, service, and hospitality were all excellent. Despina is a fantastic host. I even tried to persuade her to open her home for a good home-cooked meal, maybe!

Our multi-level place on the lower level of the city had about 800 sq feet and was very clean, with daily cleaning. Bougainvillea was blooming in the garden space, where we enjoyed afternoon wine every day. Just be ready for plenty of steps when heading to breakfast or dinner.

I really enjoyed breakfast on the balcony, looking out at the view. You can buy breakfast, with a few packages to choose from, including a vegan option. I had the traditional one and liked it a lot. The room had a lovely view and balcony, plus a desk, a sizable TV, and a very comfortable bed. There was also a small living room with a sofa and TV, and a little kitchenette with a small fridge stocked with a few drinks, a filter coffee device, an electric kettle, some complimentary coffee, and dishes and utensils. The bathroom was big and lovely, and the shower had excellent pressure. The accommodation was beautiful and spacious, but it had several levels. The steps up to the bedroom were steep, so keep that in mind if you have certain disabilities or dizziness.
