Minimal Houses

We spent three weeks in a comfortable apartment at Minimal House and truly felt at home. Now that we’ve been back less than a week, we’re already missing Mykonos. Maria and Markos, the owners and managers, were incredibly available and thoughtful, right down to welcoming us with delicious homemade cookies. The bed and bath linens were changed every other day, and both my family and I highly recommend the place. It’s rare to find people like them in Mykonos. One downside is the drive: although the apartments are close to the center as the crow flies, the roads aren’t the best, so the trip can feel longer. It took 10-15 minutes at most with traffic. It’s a good place to get away from the island’s chaos at night. Thanks again, Markos and Maria!

The views stretch across much of the small island and out to sea, with the capital’s illuminated windmills visible in the distance. Sunsets are always beautiful, and a pleasant breeze takes some of the edge off the direct sun. Inside, the temperature is very comfortable, and the bedrooms have air conditioning. The house is attractively designed and furnished, and the hosts, Markos and Maria, are extremely kind, accommodating, and helpful. It’s quiet and centrally located, about 15 minutes from the capital and 20 from the airport. Reaching it can be a bit challenging, though you get used to it quickly. Inclines over 10% are common on Mykonos, and most roads are pretty rudimentary. Thanks again to Markos and Maria!
