Espero Royal Stay

The location is great and the staff were helpful. It's a cute boutique hotel, and we had a nice experience overall, though it didn't live up to the photos online. The breakfast is provided at the restaurant, which has become a burger, taco, and crepe kind of place. It's cute, but nothing like the pictures, and I expected something nicer. Breakfast itself was nice but basic. We had a cozy, spacious room on the top floor, with a private jacuzzi on its own balcony across the hall. That could be fun, but the room had no windows, which made it dull and tiring to spend time in, especially without natural light or a sense of what's around you. Cleanliness could be better too, since we found old papers and other stuff in the drawers. Quite a few little things in the room needed fixing. None were major problems, but the place felt a bit tired and could use a refresh, especially for the price. Please get rid of the fish tank. It was broken, noisy, and not attractive. I'd stay again, just not on the top floor. The location was great, but the stay wasn't as nice as I expected from the hotel's pictures online.

The room was bright and had a balcony, though unfortunately no view. Breakfast was generous and good quality. The hotel is 50m from the harbour and Syntamag Sq, right in the middle of everything. Construction across the street started drilling and hacking at 9am, but the windows blocked about 80% of the noise, so it didn't disturb our sleep much. One thing to watch is the low ceiling beam on the stairs from the ground floor to the first floor. Staff do warn you and there are signs on it, but a different paint color might help it catch your eye. I was in a rush one day, hit my head going up, and it hurt quite a bit. It could have been worse if I'd been running. Free parking is along the pier about 200m away. Don't park in the empty square closest to the hotel, that's for coaches.

We loved our stay at Espero. It's quaint and historic, and a wonderful base for exploring this amazing area. Jim checked us in and was very kind, polite, and helpful. Breakfast came from the restaurant downstairs, and it was delicious with huge portions.

The room was stylish, new, and well lit, with a large balcony and good soundproofing. They had nice toiletries, too, and the service was great. The location is perfect, close to the harbour and old town, with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Parking is free and only about 100-200m away.
