We left after four hours. It was the worst hotel experience I've had, and I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The shower had no door or partition from the rest of the bathroom, so turning on the water flooded the whole space. We called the receptionist, Eva, who said it was just the bathroom's design and gave us three towels to soak up the water. They did nothing. By the end of the shower, water covered the toilet and sink, and the bathroom couldn't be used for at least 30 minutes. No design should make that normal. We called Eva back to show her the flooding. She stepped in the puddle and tracked muddy water across the room, but still said it was just the design. We've stayed in hotels with open showers before and never had anything remotely like this. There were insects too. A spider and gnats seemed understandable on an island, but a dead cockroach sitting plainly on the floor was unacceptable, especially as it looked like it had been there a while. Eva said that was part of island life. I'm Greek and have spent most summers on islands, and I've never found a dead roach in a hotel room or seen this many insects. Eva said changing rooms that night was impossible, and might only be possible the next day. We decided to leave and asked three times whether we'd get a full refund for both nights. Each time, Eva said yes and told us to process it through Expedia. But when we made the request, Expedia said Simon, the owner, would refund only one night. The next day Eva said she couldn't help and we needed to contact Simon. He didn't answer until Eva called him herself. He then said we'd only get half back. When we told him Eva had confirmed a full refund, he said “she did not know the policy” and abruptly hung up. After repeated contradictions about the refund, I said I intended to post honest public reviews of what happened, and only then did it seem to get attention. We raised our concerns respectfully and just wanted a reasonable solution. We left feeling dismissed and misled.
