Athina Apartments Naxos Town

The owners were kind while we were there, and the cramped room itself was fine for us. Still, it felt strange to be living in someone else's house. These were rooms in the owners' home, not apartments, despite being described as such. The room had only two plugs, neither near the bed. The beds were pretty bad, too. It was advertised as one double bed, but was actually two singles pushed together, and the mattresses kept sliding apart. There was no hot water switch in the room. I wasn't going to call the owner at 11pm or 7am when my partner and I needed a shower, especially with limited time for sightseeing. I left a very reasonable review on Booking, but the owner apparently didn't like it and called my parent, whose booking account I used, to complain and ask me to change the review. You can see the original review in the photos. That call really ticked me off.

We had a very uncomfortable and embarrassing problem with the hosts. After we left the apartment, they came looking for us with the Police, yelling at me and my sister in front of a lot of people and claiming we had broken something. We hadn't noticed any damage when we left. When I asked for proof or a photo, they had nothing. The room was very small, and hot water was quite limited. We also felt a small electric shock when trying to adjust the water.

The location is ideal, about a five-minute walk from the chora of Naxos, near a fairly large parking area and, best of all, next to the town's best brunch/breakfast restaurant. The friendly family who own the apartments were very hospitable. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a nice bed, cool decor, and wifi. The bathroom is small and the sockets aren't placed very ergonomically, but I totally recommend it.

The family were amazing. The apartment is small but comfortable, with great views. They had a very friendly dóberman, who was kept on the balcony.
