Coronis Hotel

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. At checkout, the man at the front desk said we owed €90 for breakfast, a €10 per person charge we’d never been told about. He insisted we had been informed at check-in, but all we heard was that breakfast ran from 7:30 to 10. There were several signs with the hours and none showing a price. He couldn’t find the charge on my reservation either, just said, “it must be somewhere.” When I raised the issue, he got louder and asked, “what, you want me to pay for your breakfast?!” He kept demanding payment, and the only solution he offered was to speak with the employee who supposedly hadn’t told us. “I will talk to him.” A hotel having free breakfast wouldn’t be unusual, and neither the signs nor our online reservation mentioned a fee. The food was honestly terrible, and if I’d known it wasn’t included, I wouldn’t have eaten it. I only had fruit and a cup of tea each morning, nowhere near worth €10. The room was outdated, with a hard bed and a small bathroom. The balcony view and location were good, but that was the only upside. The checkout behavior was extremely unprofessional, and the overall quality was poor.

The views are the one good thing here. The rooms feel old, and their layout makes it hard to move around, especially for a couple with two suitcases. The bathroom is tiny, though I understand there may not be anything they can do about that. The towels are old, the wardrobe smells, and the old fridge sits on the floor with one door that won’t fully open. It felt like no care or pride had gone into making the stay pleasant. Some changes could make a big difference: replace the smelly wardrobe with a freestanding one to free up space, provide fresh bedding, towels and pillows, and put the fridge under a new vanity with cupboards. A safety box would help too. That would leave much more room and improve the experience.

Hotel Coronis has a great spot in the heart of Naxos, close to attractions, restaurants and the beach, so getting around is easy. But the rooms and service made for an uncomfortable stay. The rooms weren’t clean or good quality, and the poor furnishings made sleeping uncomfortable. The facilities overall didn’t provide the comfort needed for an enjoyable visit. Service was very poor, with little attention to guests’ comfort or needs. Despite the location, I wouldn’t choose this hotel for a comfortable stay in Naxos.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. It’s a clean, lovely hotel in a fabulous part of town, right in the middle of everything.
