The food was excellent 🤍, but careless service at both the beach and restaurant, along with the way the place was managed, spoiled the experience. I was only there for lunch and the beach, so I can't comment on the hotel itself. I rented a sunbed for one person for €15 from the morning, but was asked to pay as soon as I sat down, whether or not I'd ordered anything. Beach food was limited to snacks such as club sandwiches. They couldn't make basic cocktails, only the ones listed on their menu, and any off-menu request got a straight no. For a proper hot meal, you have to get dressed, go up to the restaurant, order, eat, and pay there. It wasn't busy when I visited, but I still waited for the waitress to finish a phone call before she served me. The food really was delicious ✨. Afterward, I had to pay for the meal and what I'd had at the table before I could go back to my sunbed. Then, at the end of the day, I paid again at the beach for my drinks. From 11am to 5pm, I had to make three separate payments at the same beach bar and restaurant because they couldn't manage their online system better. Seriously? A kilometer farther along, there's a much nicer beach with free sunbeds, proper food service on the beach, and staff around to help.

We really enjoyed the beach, and the restaurant was good, with a good breakfast and decent food the first day. But the problems in our room were a real disappointment. The shower was broken: its handle wouldn't attach to the fixture, so showering was difficult. After we reported it, we spent over an hour struggling with the attendant, which made us miss something we'd planned. The bin's foot pedal was also broken, so we had to get our hands dirty to open it. Our fridge didn't chill water properly, and the cushions on the outdoor table furniture were stained. A dead cactus was blocking an old, run-down door that had been shut off so we couldn't access it. The reception lady wasn't always pleasant. She seemed bothered when we raised problems and wasn't patient when we asked what to see around the island. We asked for a partial refund, but got no response. When I followed up at reception the next morning, they said management had been notified and left it at that. Customer service in Greece overall isn't very strong; dissatisfaction is often ignored. Ippokampos Hotel has a lovely beach view, and in the end we had a good time. Still, the room issues and how they were handled left us disappointed.

I was staying elsewhere, so I'm only rating the restaurant. The food and service were both very good, and the beachfront location has a great view.

The breakfast included with our stay was a highlight. I had the Greek breakfast with coffee, a hard-boiled egg, cheese, tomatoes, olives, fresh bread, butter and jam, fruit, and rice pudding with cinnamon. I also tried the “super breakfast,” which had egg whites, vegetables, peanut butter toast, dried apple bites, and more. Both were generous, delicious, and kept me full until dinner. Our room was clean, comfortable, and airy, with a window I could crack open for a cool breeze. The staff were warm when we arrived early, and whenever we needed help they went above and beyond without hovering. We stayed at Ippokampos in Naxos from August 14-18. The beach is right across the way, with lovely views and sunsets just steps from the room. Guests can rent chairs and umbrellas for €25 a day, compared with €45 for non-guests. The constant visits from merchants offering massages every half hour were extremely annoying and made it hard to relax by the sea. There were also strict rules about bringing outside snacks to the beach chairs. I understand the concern about tax inspections, but if you have a receipt, it seems reasonable. Those two things are why I'd give it 4.5 stars instead of 5. Still, the location, views, sunsets, and friendly hospitality made for a memorable trip, and I'd absolutely stay again. Highly recommend Ippokampos for a visit to Naxos!

The rooms are small but manageable, and a bit pricey, though the view of St George Beach from the first floor and up is amazing. The staff were accommodating, and the breakfasts were fantastic. One blonde waitress was superb, nothing seemed to be an issue for her. I loved staying here. My one small gripe: there were tea bags in the room, but no coffee sachets or milk, and the tea didn't taste nice.
