Kapetanos Rooms

The large private terrace was the highlight of our four weeks in the top-floor two-bedroom apartment at Kapetanos in September and October 2020. It faces south across St George’s Bay, has a partly covered area, electric awnings for shade or shelter in windy weather, and isn't overlooked. From up there the views reach almost all around: west over the water to Paros, south to St George’s Bay, east to the hills of Naxos, and north to the Portara and Castle in the old town. There's a big table, four comfortable chairs, and washing lines of our own. We found the residential setting in St George’s peaceful, while the beach, shops and restaurants were only a short walk away. A Spar is two minutes away, with a bakery across from it. Further along are a laundry and the town square, with a pharmacy, bakery, takeaway, tavernas and cafes. Inside, the two double bedrooms both had air conditioning and plenty of storage. The smaller one opens onto the terrace and the larger one is at the back. Both beds had comfortable, good-quality mattresses. The kitchen also opens onto the terrace and has a small hob and oven, a large fridge and freezer, and plenty of cupboard space. We cooked most meals, though we had to buy some of the cookware, cutlery and crockery we needed because the hosts only provide a basic set. The bathroom is small but adequate, and the shower had good pressure. The Wi-Fi was troublesome at first, but the hosts sorted it within a few days. After that it was fine for streaming and everything else we needed. The apartment felt secure, with one locked door from the street and another lock for the unit. The front bedroom and kitchen open to the terrace through sliding glass and shutter doors. We both walked into the glass once, so safety stickers would help. Paraskevi and Michaelis were around each day and keen to help, and Paraskevi cleaned daily. We'd happily recommend this top-floor apartment. We didn't stay in the other rooms, so can't comment on them.

The rooms were spotless and really comfortable. It's a small business, and the staff were lovely. We booked self catering and were only a short walk from the beach.

The location made everything easy, with the port, town centre and square all within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and have an ensuite, TV and kitchen amenities. A lovely couple run this excellent hotel.

We couldn't sleep properly because it was much too noisy. Furniture was being moved every day from 8 am, and people spoke so loudly at reception that it felt as if they were in our room. We could hear everything.
