Petrino

We only came for dinner, and right away wished we’d found this enchanting family-run place sooner. Petrino is tucked away on the northeastern shore, well clear of the crowds and bustle of Chora’s tourist restaurants, and the drive is worth it. Dinner is a set menu that changes each day with the seasonal produce and vegetables from their own kitchen garden. The tables are on a large, shady patio with a breathtaking view from the mountains all the way to the sea. Hospitality was wonderful, and every dish was full of flavour. It was four courses of the most authentic Greek food we’ve ever had. We booked another dinner straight away so we could enjoy one more evening there before leaving.

That sunset terrace view was stunning, and everyone there was so warm and clearly loved what they do. We enjoyed dinner at Petrino so much that we returned the next evening. The food was absolutely delicious. If you're in Naxos, make time for dinner here ✨

The setting alone was lovely, on a raised stone patio looking out over the mountains and sea, and the service felt like real Greek hospitality: thoughtful, tidy, beautifully presented, and genuinely happy to see us enjoying the meal. We came to Petrino for dinner while staying elsewhere, and it was the best food we had in Naxos. Eating there reminded me of summer visits to my Greek grandma, with her cooking to make us feel welcome. The menu changes daily according to what the local market and the family garden have that day. You can taste it in everything, especially the tomatoes and cucumber. The ingredients are locally produced, some from their own garden, and the Greek dishes are cooked just right. There are no gimmicks or industrial ingredients, just the kind of Greek food that feels like it comes from decades ago. Highly recommended if you're after authentic, quality Greek cooking, whether you're visiting the island or remembering food from childhood.

The salads and vegetables were a real highlight, and much of the food comes from the garden. This is a family-run place that's gradually expanding, set above Abram beach with Mykonos in the background. Getting there means a pretty challenging drive, but it was worth it. The four courses were a bit much for us; the chicken and pasta in the third could perhaps have been folded into the second without the pasta. Still, we're not complaining, and we'd highly recommend it.
