Sanoudos Hotel

Maria made our Naxos girlstrip easy and fun, with helpful answers to our vacation questions and great restaurant suggestions. The hotel is also really well placed, close to both the beach and City Centre. Our room was spacious and spotless, and they cleaned it every day. We’d happily recommend Marias Hotel.

The low price is the one reason I’m giving this three stars instead of two. I wouldn’t stay here again. The host was very nice, gave us a great map and directions, and was available when we had questions. The location was good, if not the best, and the balcony was cute with a nice surprise of flowers. The lobby was cute too, though without breakfast or anything else going on, we didn’t have much reason to use it. The noise through the walls was awful. We could hear everything, and my husband had a very hard time sleeping. There weren’t signs asking guests to be considerate. Hot water was only available for evening showers, not in the morning, which we found out the hard way. Amenities were nearly nonexistent: towels, two bars of soap, and a hair dryer. We didn’t get a blanket until our third night, so we had only a flat sheet before that. There was no shampoo or conditioner even after I asked. I was told to go to a shop. For a four-night stay, I would’ve expected some in the lobby. Was I really not supposed to shower during five whole days? Our other places in Greece supplied these things. It was hard to enjoy the balcony without instant coffee or mugs. You could ask at the lobby for dishware, which was okay, I guess. There was no breakfast, even for purchase. That part didn’t bother me, but it’s useful for others to know. We asked the host for affordable places to eat or get dessert around the island, but she didn’t give us a single suggestion. She said she’d lived there all her life and that everywhere cost the same. That’s hard to believe, and we didn’t find it true. Some places were $ and others $$$, yet she couldn’t name one restaurant or shop.

The room was cozy and clean, and only 2 minutes from the center of Naxos. Marouso was really friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely visit again.

It’s right in the center, which is very convenient, and Marouso is a friendly hostess who makes you feel at home.
