Portes Beach Hotel

I had a great time taking part in a waterpolo match, and the hotel puts on activities for adults and children every day. I think parents will be happy with the facilities for their kids. The hotel feels like a mix of two things. Its greenery, the sea and the few small buildings make it feel like a lovely, cozy Greek village. But the rooms aren’t good enough for a four-star hotel, and the photos in the offer I received didn’t match. There’s a variety of food and people can find something they like, though the fresh fruit selection was poor, just apples, peaches and watermelon. I was disappointed that the all-inclusive bar offered only three cocktails and didn’t include mojito.

We visited Chalkidiki with our family at the start of summer, still in the off-season. It’s a peaceful, beautiful place, spotless throughout, with impeccable rooms. The hotel is a little remote and right beside the road, but we arranged an airport transfer through a travel agency. The staff were extremely attentive. There were two adults and a toddler under three in our group, and the all-inclusive package worked well for us. Older children might find fewer activities. We especially enjoyed the pool, kids club and afternoon activities around the pool and bar. The beach is small, but there were plenty of loungers and it was more than enough for that time of year.

It’s a lovely place for a quiet, cozy break from busy everyday life. The grounds, pool and beach are beautifully arranged, clean and comfortable, with nice spots for walks and photos. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and keep everything neat around the clock. I spent a whole week here and really liked it. The food deserves a special mention: breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very tasty. The menu is limited, but there was always something delicious and filling to choose. Everything was truly top-notch!

The food was good, but the choice was limited, and the children's entertainment was pretty poor. The hotel isn’t worth the money and should be rated two stars. Our room was nothing like the advert. It had old furniture and a very squeaky bed. The bathroom was awful, with mold, dirt and hair in the drainage holes, and the curtains were so filthy I couldn’t believe it. The cleaning team only did a superficial job.
