Leonidas Apartments

We stayed 9 nights as two families in apartments 8 and 10 at Leonidas 2. The location is excellent: close to the beach but away from noise. The apartments mostly match the pictures, and there was enough kitchenware, but you need to buy dish liquid, sponges, and the like yourself. Luckily, there’s a small shop right across the street. Check-in at 1 p.m. was on time, and we got help finding street parking. There were some practical problems in the rooms. Both kitchens had cooker hoods added that aren’t shown in the pictures, leaving hardly any space above the hob to cook. The bathroom windows face a staircase rather than the outdoors, so there’s no natural ventilation. In apartment no. 10, the kitchen window faces it too, leaving the kitchen without natural light or ventilation. Smells from other apartments came through, and we could hear water being used throughout the building. The first day went fine, but we then had a dispute about towels and bed linen. When we asked on day five, the owner was unpleasant and said he couldn’t provide them immediately, though we hadn’t asked for immediate service. He said changes were every 5 to 7 days, although the booking website had said every 5 days. He blamed the cleaner’s workload, while also saying several times that guests change the linen themselves. We checked the site that evening, then insisted the change happen on day six. He had initially wanted to wait seven days, but it was done that evening. The owner changed the website description in the meantime to say changes happen after 5 or 7 days. Someone from Nikana (website for reservations) may have contacted him to check when the change was made, or someone else may have reported it. Either way, he later met us coming back from the beach and accused us of reporting him, then called us liars when we denied it. He apologized later, probably after realizing we hadn’t reported him, and said he had many apartments and couldn’t change things after five days. That was very unpleasant. He lives across the street and said he monitors who enters and leaves and what happens in the apartments, after we told him about an early check-out and offered to give him the time. We didn’t find that comfortable.
