Corfu Aqua Nisaki

We came across this place in nissaki while island hopping, and the staff were super lovely. They gave us free drinks at the pool bar, which has amazing ocean views. Our room was clean, modern, and spacious, with a huge comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the ocean. They let us leave the car for the day and use the room and showers after checkout. The beach, with crystal-clear water, is only a 5-minute walk away. Highly recommend.

The panoramic view from the terrace was the one real highlight. The hotel didn’t live up to its 4-star rating: the sink was so small we had to keep our toiletries on the floor, and room cleaning was poor. We even had to ask for toilet paper. At check-in, the receptionist said our room wouldn’t be ready until 3:30 PM. The food was very basic and repetitive, the same every day.

The island itself gave us some lovely beach days, but we spent most of our time away from the hotel, driving around Corfu. After seven nights here, we’re even considering trying to get our money back. We felt the hotel fell far short of what its website promises about hospitality and respect for Corfu’s traditions. Locals we met were kind and looked after us, and several said other hotels aren’t like this. We appreciated them a lot. The room was dirty and smelled bad. We bought disinfectant wipes and spray to clean sticky surfaces ourselves. The shower was rusty and covered in limescale, the sink still had toothpaste from previous guests, and the coffee cups were sticky and stained. Crumbs were left on the balcony table and floor. It didn’t seem like anyone had wiped the floor or cleaned the bathroom properly. The pool also wasn’t clean, and the whole area smelled of feces and chlorine. The fridge in our room was empty. Service was disappointing too. Most staff seemed unmotivated, apart from the young man who showed us to our room. Ours was one of the highest up, but no one offered to help with our luggage, despite the taxes we paid. Each morning the cleaners shouted at guests instead of knocking. We were told towels would be changed every two days, but had to ask reception for them. A door sign for requesting or declining cleaning would have helped. Other guests on the all-inclusive package were loud and rude at night, and seemed to laugh at us when we had to pay 3€ for a flat beer. It didn’t cost much, but the behavior was unpleasant. The Thursday live band also sounded so off-key that we wondered if it was karaoke. This doesn’t feel like a European four-star hotel. With more care, it might be one, but I wouldn’t recommend booking here if you want somewhere quiet, relaxing, and clean.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and happy to help with questions or requests. Breakfast was the only meal we tried, and it had a good selection and was perfectly fine. Our room was a good size, with hot and cold water and air conditioning that worked well without being too loud. We had one of the top rooms, with a large balcony and a partial water view. Some rooms seem less private, though: certain balconies look straight onto the playground or parking lot, while others are shared with another room.
