Sunshine Corfu Hotel & Spa

The sea, beach, location, and views were all amazing, but the hotel itself was a disaster. The smell was awful throughout the building and sometimes reached the beach. Water dripped from the corridor ceilings, and the old elevator sometimes stopped working. The hotel needs renovation from top to bottom. I stayed for six days and five nights on an all-inclusive plan. The room was so bad that I wanted to leave as soon as I first walked in. Showering was difficult because water ran out onto the bathroom floor. There was no shampoo refill, and the only option was to buy 30 ml in the second-floor shop for €7.50. The food choices were limited, and it was practically the same every day. The setting is wonderful, but the hotel needs a complete rebuild.

The view over the sea was amazing, and I loved the hotel’s hillside layout, with the rooms descending like in Santorini. Our room, 1225, was great, and the food was really tasty. They could clean it every day if you asked. There were pool games and other activities to keep us entertained, too. Most of all, the staff were so friendly and fun to talk to. Big applause for the reception ladies and the woman at the main activity pool bar, they deserve a raise! I stayed four days in September and had such a relaxing time. I’m definitely coming back next summer. Thanks, Sunshine Corfu hotel &spa, keep up the great work!

The hotel’s marble interiors and terrace views made Sunshine a lovely place for our celebration trip, and all the rooms look out to sea. It’s a bit of a trek down to the beach, though there are lifts. There’s also a pier for boat trips and pick-ups or drop-offs with George's boat and other taverns. Sofia Psarrou and the staff helped make our stay extra special. Everyone was friendly, and our room was cleaned and tidied each day. Mama Mia a la carte had a basic menu of freshly made pizzas, pasta dishes, and salad, with attentive staff and stunning views.

The only staff experience I can praise is housekeeping: they were kind, cleaned daily when asked, and changed our towels every day. But this was a deeply disappointing stay, and I couldn’t wait to get home. I would never return. The hotel smelled of mold everywhere. We asked to change rooms, but the replacement smelled just as bad, and we were told there were no other normal rooms available. There were spiders in the closet, and my mother saw a viper just outside our door. After that, we couldn’t leave the windows open, day or night. The elevator barely worked, there were no cameras, and both pools were dirty, so we never used them. Food was repetitive, lukewarm, tasteless, and nothing like authentic Greek cuisine. The only dishes we liked were the crème brûlée, baklava, and fish served one evening. The beach is tiny, and unless you get up at 7 AM, there are no sunbeds left. Apart from the spa, sauna, and massages, all of which cost extra, there was nothing to do: no entertainment or activities, and little food variety for an all-inclusive resort, like you might expect in Turkey. There’s only a very small minimarket with souvenirs, clothes, and packaged food. A rental car from the hotel scratched our car in the parking lot. Nobody took responsibility, and the rental car lady treated us in a racist way simply because we are Albanian. I’d recommend staying in the south of Corfu, around Lefkimmi or Kavos, where there’s more life, tavernas, shops, and atmosphere. Here, it was boring, with nothing to do apart from the sea. Frankly, Albania has even better sea and bigger beaches, with luxury and tastier food, for much less.
