Eleftheria Hotel

The best known. Excellent.

We mostly used the hotel to sleep and have breakfast, so I can't say much about spending all day there. The breakfast is free and decent, though a little dull. The pool is spacious, with a children's area at one end; getting up the ladders can be tricky, but they're manageable. The pool bar is nothing special, although the drinks are good and reasonably priced. The beach is easy to find, straight ahead and about 500 meters away. There's parking behind the hotel, and the staff are friendly and smiley. Rooms are cleaned daily, and the cleaning is good. The cleaner doesn't really understand English, which makes it hard to ask her not to come. The elevator has no inner door, so it may be risky for small children, though we had no trouble using it. The air conditioning works well, but it only runs while you're in the room because its chip is attached to the room key. It costs 35 euros, which feels a bit expensive. It's about 40 minutes from both Elafonissi, the most beautiful beach, and Chania. There aren't many restaurants within walking distance. The standout nearby option is the best restaurant in the kissamos area, just a four-minute drive away. It has a new menu each day, uses fresh ingredients the owner finds himself, and costs about half as much as eating in chania. A good hotel, just not a fantastic one.

The staff are really lovely, and the price is okay. The hotel itself feels a little run down, though, and it's a long way from shops, the city center, and any real city life.

The hotel goes by Regina now. The pool is nice for kids, and the garden is well cared for in places, though parts of it look run down.
