Akti Aegeou Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay, and it’s hard to leave, though luckily we’re heading to our next island. The location is superb for the fabulous beach. Our sea-view studio was just right, cleaned daily, and we had our towels and sheets changed several times during our five days. The pool was excellent. Breakfast is served in a beautifully furnished Taverna, and the food was excellent too, presented on interesting but practical platters and bowls. Many thanks to all the staff.

The pool and nearby taverna were highlights. The pool area was modern and very clean, with really comfortable sunbeds, and it opens onto a lovely beach. The taverna by the pool was excellent. It was easy to relax away from the crowds, and we often had the pool to ourselves. Our apartment was spacious, with plenty of room for clothes, and the linen and towels were changed every other day during our five nights at the beginning of June. From the veranda we could see the pool and, beyond it, the sea. It was a lovely time to visit Tinos. The beach bar wasn’t open while we were there, which was a shame, though I assume it’ll open as the season gets going.

It was hard to enjoy a beer on our balcony, even with the lovely shore view, because children played football around the pool until late, including during quiet hours. The free umbrellas for hotel guests were already claimed with towels early in the morning. Some families had three to five umbrellas set aside for people who never showed up, which I found an unacceptable hotel policy. The restaurant was rather expensive, the food tasted poor, and there were a lot of flies.

For the most expensive hotel of our stay, this was the least relaxing one. Our room was large enough for our family of five, but it needs updating. The pool staff were fine, though they seemed disinterested, and the pool rules made us uneasy. We were told off for eating in the restaurant and swimming half an hour later. The pool was closed from 3:30 to 6:30 pm, just when we would have used it, and the rules also said no playing in the pool. Breakfast wasn’t included here, unlike at the other hotels; it would have cost another 42 euros a night. We thought about trying it, but the woman working in the restaurant was smoking with all the windows shut, which put me off. We made the most of the stay and enjoyed it, but wouldn’t rush back.
