Askas Pension

The hotel restaurant is a spacious, almost open-air place serving everything from breakfast to dinner. You can hang out there if you don't feel like heading to the beach, and guests from the campground come by too, mostly young Greek people. We never heard any noise. The owners have made a lovely hotel in a perfect spot for visiting Amorgos's northern port, with nice rooms, en suite bathrooms and balconies. Simply wonderful.

I spent three weeks at Pension Askas in October and felt at home. The whole family was kind and helpful. They found me a flashlight for an early morning hike and gave me a fresh pomegranate from the garden. My room was clean, and I was glad to have a fridge and kettle so I could make small meals on my balcony, surrounded by flowers and looking out over the mountains and ocean. Having a Yogashala on the grounds, with classes three times a week, was really convenient. I could also rent a car for the day just downstairs when I decided spontaneously. And Marios is quite a musician, letting guests hear what a traditional bazooka sounds like. I had a very pleasant stay. Thank you all!

The harbor is an easy 10-15 minute walk away, and the hotel itself feels welcoming from the entrance, with books around that were a lovely extra. Our room was clean, spacious and bright, and the mosquito net on the balcony came in handy. From the time we booked, the staff kept in touch to see what we might need. Dimitra greeted us early in the morning and got us into our room. We also rented a car through the family business, Evdokia, and got useful, detailed advice about the harbor, traffic and getting around. Thanks again, Fani :) The restaurant downstairs looked inviting, and Fani and Marios even asked us to join them at their table. We had such a nice time with them. They made sure we were comfortable throughout. You could find somewhere more luxurious, but I doubt we'd enjoy the stay as much.

We came in early September 2022, just after the busiest part of the season. The hosts were warm and accommodating, and even offered to do our laundry for free. The location is handy for the beach. Our room was simple and clean, and the shower was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
