Mikelina Boutique Hotel

The rooms are huge, and there’s a nice atmosphere, with a garden, pool bar and lots of cosy spots to sit with a drink. It could be a bit tighter. Breakfast was okay, though the selection wasn’t much.

We ended up booking this hotel from the plane after realizing we’d have to stay the night in Athens. It was around 15-20 minutes from the airport, and getting an Uber for 5:50 went smoothly. The area nearby didn’t look too great, but a ten-minute walk took us to the main area and a square with a lovely Tavern, whose name was something close to Pinocchio, where we had pizza and salad. The service there was the best, and our hotel stay was lovely overall. The entrance and pool were beautiful, and the room was nice and perfectly adequate. I do wish hotels had solid doors between bedrooms and bathrooms.

The rooms were comfortable, and breakfast was decent, though dated. Guda cheese, coffee was okay, and there wasn’t much nearby besides a baker. The hotel is 20 km from athens airport, with a highway beside it. I’d paid in advance for two nights, but my flight was cancelled and I arrived on the second day. I called Mrs Christina by Abroads the day before to explain, and she said they had rooms. I thanked her and said we’d speak in person. At checkout, Mrs Christina asked me for another 100 euros for the second night, even though I’d called ahead and the nights had been paid for. That’s how they treat clients at Mikelina hotel.

They treated me so kindly, and the service was amazing. The hotel is near the airport, which is just what I need when I’m in Athens and want to stay close by. I’ll definitely come back.
