We stayed for three weeks, from mid-July to early August, and eventually got used to things. The location and sea view help a lot, but the place needs repairs and more care. It feels really cheap, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a hardcore budget traveller. Room 10 was roomy for two, with a wide, comfortable double bed, plenty of shelves, a spacious closet, big mirrors, and a large bathroom with a window. The balcony looked out to the sea and sunset, stayed shaded until noon, and had green trees below. Everything was easy to reach on foot. The welcome was friendly, and Anna gave us watermelon in the heat, thank you so much! The price was low too. You can tell the house was once nice, with its welcoming entrance hall, bright walls, and wooden furniture. But the Studios felt run down, neglected, and poorly cleaned. No one seemed to keep track of the rooms’ condition, and I had to point out every fault. Shy guests might find that difficult. The WiFi almost never worked, which was frustrating and cost us extra for mobile data. There was no hot water at the sinks, and the shower barely trickled. Warm water only came after it had been running for ten minutes. The toilet bowl wobbled and its cistern leaked. Fixtures were corroded or covered in deposits, the kitchen faucet sprayed sideways, the rusty fridge ran loudly without stopping, and the cooker body got very hot as soon as a burner was on. The windows, balcony doors, and shutters were hard or impossible to close. Drawers jammed and handles had broken off. One Greek-style chair wobbled and was uncomfortable. Of the three folding armchairs, one had sagging fabric and another was torn, so only one of all four chairs was alright. The dishes, cutlery, and glasses seemed thrown together carelessly, and the pan was half broken. There was only a ceiling light, no bedside lamps, and a few clothespins but no line. The toilet paper, soap, and toothbrush holders were partly broken off or covered in deposits. The cleaner emptied the toilet bucket each day, gave the floor a quick wipe, and changed towels and bedding every few days, but the rest of the cleaning was ineffective. There were no brooms, mops, buckets, or other supplies in the room, which made a long stay harder. The floor often smelled musty or felt greasy after cleaning, as if the water was dirty, old, or too soapy. On arrival the bathroom mirror was dull and smeared, so I had to clean it, and I also had to wash dishes and glasses with previous guests’ leftovers stuck to them. The kitchen cupboard was dirty inside, and the balcony was very dirty from air conditioner condensation and sparrows nesting there. It would be better if the cleaner came every other day and did a more careful job. Maybe the low price means you shouldn’t expect too much, but in June and July 2023 we stayed better for similar prices on Lemnos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria, and Patmos. Supposedly, and hopefully, Climbing House Apartments next door, the Blue Villa, or their new hotel in Myrties are more attractive. Don’t confuse them with the Studios where we stayed.
