Amandola Villas

We stayed in the largest house in the complex, called the “Executive” villa. It’s the only one with a garden and it has a bigger pool than the other houses. I expected that to be a plus, but nearly all the neighbors seemed to think the yard and pool were shared. During the final 5-6 days, different neighbors kept entering our yard and arguing with us about the pool. They came through the bushes from the back or from the private street out front. My wife usually spotted them first and politely asked them to leave. They’d argue that the pool was public, unlike their own private pools, and wouldn’t go until I showed up. It was unsettling to be inside and know someone could appear just a meter from our bedroom window. In the other villas, you can only reach the pools from the back, and I didn’t see anyone trespassing at the other pools. I contacted the owners each time, but they did nothing until our last day, when they put up some kind of plastic chains at the ends of the yards. That barely helped. That evening a man came from the street to the pool asking where reception was. He wasn’t even staying there. The gate was open, so he entered the private street and then the only house accessible from it. The Wi-Fi supposedly exists, but over our 11 days it worked for maybe 2-3 hours in total. I reported the problem every day at first because I needed internet for work. They always said they’d check, but it never worked for more than a few minutes, so we had to use mobile data. The house itself would have been okay if people hadn’t kept coming into our yard and the owners hadn’t failed to respond. Two days before we left, I asked for a partial refund. The next morning I woke to someone yelling in the yard. It seems asking for a refund is what gets you a visit from the owner or manager, but she came only to intimidate us, I think. Instead of having one last quiet day, we had to share the yard with the owner and maintenance workers. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t stay there. At the very least, I’d book through Booking or somewhere else that lets you seek a refund if the property isn’t as listed. About the owner's reply: the photo and video I attached were taken in my yard. I didn’t invade anyone’s privacy or film people in their private yards or pools. They invaded mine. This was only one of many similar confrontations with different people from the complex. The women in the video were just a meter from our main bedroom, under the balcony I filmed from, with full glass doors. To me, this shows how little the owner cared about my privacy.
