Onar

We stayed at Onar at the end of May, and the natural surroundings were breathtaking. It really does feel like a paradise, and once you get there, you don’t feel like leaving. The accommodation is beautiful and luxurious in a simple, down-to-earth way that made us feel relaxed right away. The family-run team and their staff made us feel welcome throughout. Their service was exceptional, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. There’s plenty to see and do nearby, though we were just as happy to stay at Onar and relax. My partner and I had an incredible time, and we’re already planning another visit.

We spent six nights in Sunrise Villa with a pool, enjoying the nature and the distance from crowded areas. In the evenings, all you hear is sheep and goats. It’s very remote, and after a few days the guests get to know one another. The staff were kind and helpful with any issue, and the restaurant was very clean with fast service. There’s also a small pool bar with a view for when you don’t want to go to the beach. The traditional stone buildings are lovely while still feeling modern. The location is remote, and the beach is one of the cleanest in Greece, without many tourists. Before 8.00 am, nobody was on the beach, so you could even swim naked. A couple of downsides: the garden needs more attention, and reaching Hillside Villas involves a small hill climb, though staff can help with golf cars. Wifi should be included, as there are many good options available. The restaurant could have more Greek cuisine. It’s a unique, remote hotel run by kind staff and owned by a family who welcome you like friends, with the best Greek hospitality. If you’re tired of crowded hotels and love nature, you should try it. AMAZING!

Every kilometre of the road to Onar is worth it for this peaceful hideaway, a secret paradise far from the rest of the world. Have George pick you up from the port so you don’t have to drive it yourself. The food, service, rooms, and location were all 5/5. We left feeling like part of the Onar family, and we’re planning another trip. Thanks to Teo and the amazing team.

This is a remote place, so it’s not a good base for touring Andros. If you want to see more of the island, plan to spend another 2-3 days somewhere else. For our family, those few days in one of the most beautiful spots in Andros were a real privilege. It felt like a little paradise, with absolute relaxation and huge value for money. Our 4-year-old son had a great time, and we had nothing to worry about. The Onar management and staff treated us like friends and did everything they could to make our stay lovely. We definitely want to go back.
