Philippos Hotel

The check-in went well and the staff were friendly. That’s the one star. After that, things went downhill. The hotel looks worn out, and the rooms and bathroom look heavily used. At least the room was moderately clean, not filthy. It’s nearly impossible to shower without water spilling everywhere. The toilet is tiny, with your face almost in the sink. The first morning the elevator didn’t work, and it looks like something from a horror movie. We booked a hotel rather than an apartment for the service and breakfast. Breakfast runs from 8 to 9:30, which seems ridiculous in this hot climate when everyone is out until noon. I don’t understand why it can’t go until at least 10. The food was the worst hotel breakfast I’ve had. The coffee was watery, wasn’t machine-made, and came in paper cups. There were no glasses or cups for the orange juice, which was the cheapest kind and definitely watered down. The bread was awful, the boiled eggs were cold, and there was only one kind of meat, the cheapest you can get. The cereal selection was only awful cornflakes, no wheat or anything decent, and there was no feta or anything special. They charged over 90 euros for one night, which felt like a total rip-off. I stayed in a German hotel for 45 euros and it was much better, with fresh food and coffee. This whole hotel needs an overhaul.
