We spent 11 nights here and knew about the steps and hill before booking. The transfer coach leaves you at the bottom, then a minibus takes you and your cases up, and does the same on the way home. There are 55 steps to reception with your luggage, then more depending on your apartment floor. It’s no good for anyone with mobility issues. The views make the climb worthwhile, and it’s very quiet and peaceful, though I don’t know what it’s like in summer. The apartments are basic, spacious, and clean. The stove has a grill for toast. The supermarket at the bottom brings heavy things up for free. The pool was lovely, but very, very deep with no shallow end. The girl at the bar is great to talk to and can tell you anything you want to know. The cleaners are friendly too. The hill down is quick, but the last part on the way back is a pull. There are 91 somewhat dodgy steps on the left side of the entrance. They’re okay in daylight, but not in the dark. The tavernas at the bottom are brilliant. Dokos is good, especially for Greek Night, and further up, Perivoli has exceptional food. We had a lovely time and would recommend it.

The apartments don’t look like the pictures. Our room with the kitchen and two beds had no windows, and the balcony door, the only opening, had no mosquito net. A lizard came into the room on the second day. They hadn’t provided a toothbrush holder in the bathroom or a new soap dish either. The price is far above what you actually get, so I don’t recommend this place.

The staff and views were great, and the rooms were average but clean. Room 31’s air conditioning didn’t work properly and was extremely noisy, and the owner did nothing. The electricity kept going off without tripping the breaker. I think the relay switch was faulty, but again the owner did nothing. It can be a hard walk to the hotel if you’re unfit. Parga itself made the stay enjoyable, but the hotel wasn’t the best.

The team at Petrino Apartments are so welcoming and make the holiday feel special. It’s very close to Parga beach, with stunning views. The apartment was clean and just right for our family of four. We’ll stay again.

They met us when we arrived, even though it was after midnight. Staying up so late to greet us and make sure we got into our apartments safely after a long journey says a lot about the owners and staff. The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are provided. Nothing is too much trouble, they even helped us in and out of the car park.
