Nikolas Hotel

The sea-view rooms are beautiful, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We also liked the breakfast restaurant area. We were in Paros for our honeymoon, though the metal bed frames squeaked quite a bit, and the A/C felt underpowered and took longer than we’d have liked to cool the room. Still, I’d recommend the hotel.

We had a balcony with a table and chairs, overlooking a lovely cove and facing the sunset. The location was pretty and fairly quiet, with a quick walk to the livelier part of town, and the staff were nice and helpful. The room was small and the bed a bit uncomfortable. The hotel feels old despite some newer renovations, like the bathroom tiles. The furniture in the room was old too, though the dated air conditioning worked well.

When my young son got sick on our second day, the owners went out of their way to help me get him medical attention. I’ll always remember their kindness, and I’d gladly stay here again when I’m back in Paros. I was here for three nights with him. The decor is a little outdated, but the location is fantastic, with everything within walking distance. You also get a wonderful sunset view right from your balcony.

The breakfast was a serious concern: there was oil on the buffet with dead insects in it. When we told the staff, they were rude and told us to stop taking pictures instead of apologizing. That left us doubting the hygiene and quality of both the buffet and the hotel. We were on an agency-booked island-hopping trip and wouldn’t have chosen Hotel Nikolas ourselves. Being near the city center was one of its few positives. The hotel is very old, much of the furniture is in poor condition, and things like the sagging mattresses and patched-up breakfast-area furniture should be replaced. As a couple, we were given two single beds with a view of the parking lot. The beds sagged so much we could feel the slatted frame when we moved. The old A/C was loud and directly above our heads, which made it very uncomfortable. This was the worst hotel on our island-hopping trip and one of the worst we’ve ever stayed in. Absolutely not recommendable!
