Parosland Hotel

The grounds and pool were really nice, and the nearby beach area has several restaurants. It’s quite a distance from the main town and ferry, though the hotel rents cars at a very reasonable price. The rooms felt dated. We enjoyed the on-site restaurant’s decent dinner selection, and breakfast was included with a variety of tasty items. The staff were very nice and made the stay pleasant.

Alyiki was charming, and the hotel was a lovely place to get away from everything. We visited in mid-April, before high season, so it was fairly quiet. The pool and surrounding area were lovely, and the food was excellent with some nice extra touches. Breakfast was elaborate. For this price range, it’s one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything felt impeccable, from the decor and design to the room amenities.

The staff were nice and breakfast was great, but the hotel itself was just okay. There’s no vanity in the bathroom, and the rustic finishings looked cheap. I was expecting more from the pictures and the atmosphere, and that $28 vodka cranberry at the pool bar made me feel ripped off. We couldn’t even just get tipsy by the pool.

The pool was the nicest part of Parosland Hotel in Alyki, but as a family of four adults we found the rules so rigid that relaxing was hard. Towels had to be checked out from reception and there was a steep fee if they weren’t returned immediately. You couldn’t bring your own drinks, not even a bottle of Powerade, and hotel drinks weren’t allowed in the pool either. They had to stay at the little tables around it. When we asked about using a paper cup, we were told those were only for “take away” drinks. The happy hour advertised for 3-5 pm only applied to their €14 cocktails, and that time overlapped with the pool’s designated “quiet time,” which was confusing. There seemed to be more staff than guests, and with many watching the pool from the restaurant, we often felt observed instead of welcomed. Even a small kindness fell flat: my dad was refused a cup of coffee that had already been brewed before the breakfast buffet officially opened at 8 am. The property itself is nice, but the atmosphere left a bad taste in our mouths. We avoided eating at the hotel or spending much time there, and went into town instead, where things felt much more relaxed and enjoyable.
