Patras Smart Hotel, Vassilicos House of Hospitality

Breakfast had a superb range, with Greek dishes as well as European options, though I was there early. The check-in was quick and efficient, and the rooms have good equipment, even if they feel a little tired and were only fairly clean. For a quiet room, the higher floors facing away from the road avoid outside noise, but sound carries between rooms. It's a convenient spot for the ferry port. Underground parking is limited, though there is public parking nearby and you can park on the road.

We had a very nice room for the price we paid. Parking was available, and the staff were really polite and friendly. Breakfast was nice too, with lots of variety and welcoming staff.

The reception team were the one bright spot. They tried to help me and everyone else, and their professionalism deserves a better hotel. My experience everywhere else was horror and filth. It was so dirty I couldn't bring myself to eat the unappealing breakfast, and even public toilets in the world's worst cities probably smell better. I've never vomited so much in my life, and even thinking about the place makes me feel sick. I couldn't get out soon enough. The double bed felt like one and a half singles, with uncomfortable mattresses, and road noise was unbearable. It can't compete with a hostel, let alone a three-star hotel. The housekeeper on the third floor was obnoxious and rude, and couldn't take criticism.

The room was clean, and I appreciated having a kettle. The shower is awful, spraying water all over the place and needs fixing. Breakfast had a good selection, and the staff were friendly. The location is great, parking is available, and everyone was polite. We heard every sound, inside and out, including all the moaning, so the advertised soundproofing just isn't true. Despite the cleanliness, the hotel smelled really bad. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it.
