Atrium Hotel

The staff were great and the rooms were kept clean, but there wasn't enough space for clothes, and the big generator outside our balcony kept us awake. On the way home, the Dolphins transfer bus made us cross busy traffic to reach it. The elderly couple travelling with us struggled to get across, though the German bus ten minutes earlier had pulled in for us. As for meals, the food was horrendous. It was bland, tasteless, full of fillets, and often cold. One night the beef was bones with gristle hanging off; fried eggs were cold, and so were the scrambled eggs and bell peppers. The soup was basically water with noodles at the bottom. Chicken was okay when cooked, but dry, and the cold chips were warmed up from one meal to the next. The bread was hard and dry, only good for toast. A couple who ate there on the first day said they had the trots the following day. Then they stopped taking food orders at the pool bar because nobody was going into the dining room. We joked about who was heading for toast.

Housekeeping were really nice. The rooms were okay, and while the air conditioning barely worked, the weather wasn’t that hot, so it didn’t matter much. The stay was good overall, though the service disappointed me. The bartenders in particular were rude.

I was nervous trying to sleep because there was no latch or deadbolt on the room door. The room felt like something from a scary movie, and the cheap-looking amenities and furniture were about the only things that seemed cheap. Greece is beautiful, but staying here was easily the worst part of my trip. I’d strongly suggest reading all the negative reviews before booking. Two stars at best. I don’t know who rated this place, but it can’t be four-star by any standard.

The water park was such a fun extra, and my daughter and I had a great time there. The pool was clean, too, with no problems. The hotel sits in a quiet spot among pine trees, and we hardly saw any mosquitoes or other bugs, which I really appreciated. Ants, though, are relentless if you leave crumbs. Our room was clean and serviced every day; the furniture wasn’t new, but it was in good shape, and the air conditioning worked well. Even during a hot spell, the nights stayed pleasantly cool. We only took breakfast at the hotel and went into town for dinner, which suited us because the location was convenient. Staff showed us a parking area right outside, so we didn’t need to hunt for a space. If I’m back in Halkidiki, I’d consider staying here again.
