Hotel Akritas Pefkochori

We ended up staying 8-9 nights because we liked the hotel. The staff were kind whenever we needed help, and our beds were comfortable. Housekeeping came while we were at the beach, and breakfast was very good. There was a nice little juice tradition in our kitchenette: the previous guests had left us some, so we left some for whoever came next. I hope it carried on. The beach was five minutes away, and we could relax by the pool afterward, either swimming or sunbathing. I’d recommend it if you want to be close to the beach.

The location was a real plus, with shops and restaurants around a three-minute walk away, the beachfront about eight minutes on foot, and Xenia beach and other top beaches roughly an eight-minute drive away. Parking was available, though a bit inconvenient: some spaces were in front of the hotel and the rest were less than five minutes away on foot. The kids loved the pool, and staff were friendly and quick to step in when large groups of guests got noisy. The rooms were basic but had most things we needed. The beds weren’t very comfortable, and the kitchenette was short on basics like cups and cutlery. The pool area was nice, though you couldn’t bring your own food, and food service stopped after breakfast until 1:30, which was awkward when the kids got hungry between 11:30 and 1:30. The bar was okay. I’m not sure I’d stay again, but it was pleasant and seemed suited to big family groups booking several rooms.

We found the breakfast start too late for us, and I heard other guests mention the same problem. There was plenty of variety, but the coffee and apple and orange juice were poor quality. I’d also be careful with belongings around the room and balcony. My beach slippers had been left in a completely different part of the room, but I found them barely visible, pushed into the corner by the bed against the wall. It seemed like whoever cleaned the room may have put them there so they’d be forgotten. Despite those issues, I thought the hotel was superb.

The poolside prices were good, and the place felt very family friendly. Rooms and staff were nice, with cleaners coming every day to change the sheets and towels. Breakfast was okayish.
