Montanema Handmade Village

The mountains and surrounding landscape are wonderful, and the resort offers activities like spa treatments, a pool, Hammam sauna, massage, sound healing, and walking tours. It’s a relaxing place immersed in nature and local traditions, where I could disconnect from daily stress and feel revived. The tasteful decor, spacious rooms with fireplaces, handmade soaps and cosmetics, local food, and friendly service all helped me feel connected to the area. It really felt like an escape.

Treat yourself to a massage at the spa with Mrs Spyridoula. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the concept and everyone involved deserve credit. In May, the place was surrounded by green gorge scenery, stone and wood houses, and spectacular views. I’ll definitely visit again.

We booked a massage after spending the day outside, and it was fantastic, just what we needed to feel reset. The food was hearty and local, and the team were genuinely kind and attentive. Montanema feels like a tiny mountain village tucked into the fir forest rather than a hotel. Our stone-and-wood house was spotless and warm, and made it easy to switch off. We liked the no-TV philosophy. Evenings by the fireplace were a highlight, and the nights were wonderfully quiet. If you’re after nature, privacy, and real calm, this place delivers.

The mountain walks were breathtaking, with lovely little waterfalls along the way. From our rustic cabin above Lake Plastira, we had gorgeous views and good WiFi. Waking up to fog rolling off the mountain was awe-inspiring. Food and service were quite adequate. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to get away from everything.
