Thalassa Apartments

The apartment has a lot going for it: it's spacious and bright, the beds are comfortable and supportive, and the air conditioning helped us sleep well. Balconies look out over the marina and islands, with several pretty, uncrowded little beaches nearby. There's a minimarket across from the property. Nydri is about five minutes away by car, or a 20-25 minute walk along a road with no sidewalks. When the whole area lost water because of a water failure, the manager, Sotiria, tried to help. But the apartment needs renovation and a much better clean. Only the living area and bedroom had been partly redone. The bathroom and kitchenette were very worn and dilapidated. Cleaning was scheduled every four days, but in our nine-day stay it happened just once, very sloppily on day four. They did a quick sweep and bathroom wipe, then changed the sheets and towels at 4:30 PM, after we were back from the beach, so we had to go out and wait. There was dust almost everywhere, holes and wear in the sheets, mold, and cobwebs. After that cleaning, stains and hair were still in the bathroom, and we bought supplies at the supermarket to clean ourselves. It's the host's responsibility to make sure the services provided are done properly, not the guest's to call and ask. There were very few cooking pots and utensils, many dirty and in terrible condition. The drying rack had just one peg, so we had to buy the other things we needed. The water didn't look drinkable because it had a white film, so we needed crates of bottled water. The apartment isn't wheelchair-accessible, with some steps down and more up to reach it. Traffic on the main road behind the building, including cars, modified scooters, and trucks, was a bit noisy, though as city residents it didn't keep us awake. Wi-Fi was weak and only worked for basic tasks, with even social media cutting in and out. The location is very convenient and the place has potential, but based on our stay it needs renovation and more consistent cleaning.
