My husband and I visit Chatzigaki Mansion every year, and we’ve never been disappointed. It’s always warm and relaxing, with the mansion beautifully cared for and its authentic character balanced with modern comfort. The rooms are elegant, comfortable, and spotless. The hosts are consistently attentive, professional, and kind, and make us feel welcome every time. It feels like somewhere we come back to, rather than just a place to sleep. A wonderful experience year after year, and we’ll definitely keep returning.

We’ve spent five amazing days here on two separate trips as two families, first in August 2019 and then in February 2025. The lodge sits in an unspoilt location and feels relaxing and luxurious, with warm staff who give generously of their time and hospitality. Our days started with great breakfasts in the lounge, looking out over the mountains. Then we drove 10 minutes to Kerketio for daily horse rides and quad rides in the mountains. My eldest, who’s 13, loved taking the quads over the rough terrain. We also toured a different place each day, including Meteora, the Bridge in Paliokaria, and Elati. Looking forward to coming back. Thanks for the good times.

The mountain air, cold stones, rushing streams, and tall spiky conifers made the place feel almost alive with the gods of mythology. Greece has plenty to offer beyond its golden beaches, clear waters, and sun-soaked islands. I loved finding this hidden gem high up in the mountains.

The mountain views and surrounding scenery were beautiful, though remember to fill up with petrol before heading up. The nearest station was a 30-minute drive back down toward Tricala. We spent four nights here for a family wedding and would happily return. The hotel and its communal spaces are beautiful, and our large room was comfortable, stylishly decorated, and traditional in an upmarket way. Food was excellent, and the service was warm and personal. It felt like staying with friends. The gym could use mats, weights, and other standard equipment. Its machines are basic, and a few dumbbells, kettlebells, mats, and a better multi gym would improve it. The gym clearly isn't a priority, though, and even a gym enthusiast shouldn't see that as a deal breaker.

We only stayed two nights while visiting Meteora, and I already want to come back to unwind in the area. The family who own the place are so warm and welcoming, and can arrange horseback riding, four-wheeling in the countryside, skiing, and wine tasting. I'd love to return with friends for a girls' trip, though families could have a great week here too. Our room was huge and lovely, with a mountain view, a marble bathroom with a separate bath and shower, a great mattress, and a choice of pillows. We arrived at 9:00pm and got wonderful service right away. The gentleman who checked us in helped with parking and our luggage, then let us know the restaurant was expecting us. I'd emailed earlier that day to reserve a table. We usually avoid hotel restaurants, but the local ingredients and variety at this one had my husband and me eating both dinners there. And the homemade yogurt at breakfast was incredible. I think it may have spoiled other Greek yogurt for me. I've stayed at five-star chains on several continents, and The Chatzigaki Manor is unquestionably among the finest hotels I've visited. Skip the crowded places in villages closer to Meteora and make the extra trip here. I've often paid twice as much for somewhere half as good.
