Hotel Electra

I've stayed here each summer when returning to Greece before heading to the islands. It's quiet, very clean, and close to shopping centers, with good value for money. This summer I had a room on the 2nd floor that had just been renovated, and it looked classy. The helpful staff and the regulars, including locals from the islands who stay here whenever they visit Piraeus, make it feel familiar.

I was unsure about staying here after reading the bad reviews, but we were very satisfied. We arrived late in October with three children after a long ferry trip from Santorini, and needed somewhere to rest for one night. It was a short walk from the port, and the outside of the building made a good impression. The staff were friendly, even if they didn't say much. Our room and beds were very clean; the bathroom was tiny but clean too. Restaurants and cafes a few minutes away served good meals late at night and early in the morning, and the metro was also just a few minutes' walk. Maybe summer is different, but in October it was just fine.

The port is literally around the corner, so this is especially handy if you have an early ferry the next day. We arrived after 11pm and reception was open; check-in was super easy. The room came with clean sheets and towels, and had really good AC and WiFi. The shower pressure was good, and there was plenty of bar soap. No complaints.

For 40 euros/night, this was perfect for my one-night stop before an early ferry. It's the cheapest hotel I've ever stayed in, and it matched its description. The beds were more comfortable than some Hilton Hotels I've stayed in, and I slept really well. It was clean, quiet, and right by the port. The Internet was good too, though the shower was a bit tricky to use.
